Orthodontics
is the branch of dentistry that deals with the problems related
to malaligned teeth and jaws.
These problems
are corrected using appliances often referred to as braces. These
can be fixed onto teeth or maybe removable. Occasionally, an external
brace may also be used which is supported by the head or neck.
Orthodontic
treatment can be carried out on baby teeth as well as permanent
teeth. Sometimes the treatment is started when the baby teeth are
present to correct conditions or to make adjustments while the child
is growing, in order to allow the teeth and jaws to develop in a
better environment. This often needs to be followed by further treatment
when all permanent teeth have developed and generally involves the
use of fixed braces. Fully comprehensive treatment lasts for about
two years.
Orthodontic
appliances can be fun and colourful or discreet and orthodontic
treatment can be carried out as successfully in adults as in children,
so it's never to late.
The treatment
provided ranges from children's dentistry, orthodontics, oral surgery,
periodontics, general dentistry, routine & advanced restorative
work, implants and cosmetic dentistry.
